At The Second Occasion, our mission is to create pieces you’ll love, reinvent, and re-wear, season after season, year after year. While we know we’re not perfect, we’re committed to doing better and being honest about the steps we’re taking.
The fashion industry has a significant environmental impact, and we believe even small brands like ours can make a meaningful difference. One major issue is garment longevity. The average item is worn only 7-10 times before being discarded. We design with this in mind, focusing on thoughtful details that make our pieces versatile, timeless, and worth holding onto.
From our colour palette and prints to our silhouettes and fabric choices, everything is considered to extend the life of each garment. We acknowledge trends, but we don’t chase them, so you can feel confident wearing The Second Occasion now and well into the future.
We’re also working to increase our use of natural fibres and lower-impact raw materials. This is an ongoing journey for us, and while we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we’re committed to continuously improving our choices.
Our sustainability efforts extend to our packaging too. We use eco-conscious materials wherever possible, including biodegradable shipping mailers and recycled paper and cardboard for our swing tags and style cards. It’s a small step, but one we believe matters when it comes to reducing waste and creating a more thoughtful unboxing experience.
Sustainability isn’t a checkbox - it’s a mindset. We’re here for the long haul, and we hope our clothes are too.
